Gaz (Vocals)

Email/Photo

Name: Gareth McVicker.
Birthday: 13th December 1984.
Occupation: Microbiologist.
Favourite bands: AFI, My Chemical Romance, Cradle of Filth, Placebo, Queen.
Musical/personal influences: Freddie Mercury [Queen], Davey Havok [AFI], Robert Smith [The Cure], Brian Molko [Placebo].
What the band means to you: At first, the chance to share emotions with other people, and now it's becoming quite a link to our collective past. Noctula CDs are something we used to laugh at, and now we're incredibly proud of what we've become.
Favourite Noctula song: The Last Page, especially played live.
Non-musical interests: Roleplaying (e.g. White Wolf), writing roleplaying games and fiction.
Dislikes: Any sort of prejudice, because society should know better by now.
Bad habits: I have a very short fuse.
Something good about Jez: He's come a long way with regards to musical production, as he's taken on the role of our sound engineer. He is, of course, a great guitar player and composer too.
Something good about Jon: We have the same sarcastic sense of humour. Also, he's the best bassist I've ever met, and can turn a simple melody into an amazing bass line with lots of subtle twists.

Jon (Bass Guitar)

Name: Jonathan Hall.
Birthday: 26th June 1985.
Occupation: Particle Physicist.
Favourite bands: Muse, AFI, Wishbone Ash, Placebo, Bloc Party, Millionaire, Tool, Editors.
Musical/personal influences: Chris Wolstenholme [Muse], Matt Bellamy [Muse], Andy Powell [Wishbone Ash], Josh Homme [Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss], Masato Nakamura [Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2].
What the band means to you: We're very good friends and for some reason we seem to be able to write really awesome music together. Also, being in a band is, like, the best thing.
Favourite Noctula song: Never Had a Name.
Non-musical interests: Science, cue-sports, reality, humans.
Dislikes: Hate, negativity, disproportionate selfishness and futile attempts at immortality, people who adamantly believe things without really considering why they believe them or why they should, electric cookers, non-mixer taps, pointless dogs.
Bad habits: The music of Lily Allen.
Something good about Jez: He is amusing and can play the guitar. I think he has a pretty unique guitar style actually, probably coming from the fact that he only moved on to electric guitar relatively recently in his musical career. He really (and increasingly so) knows what he's doing with respect to musical composition and production.
Something good about Gaz: Gaz writes some great lyrics as well as possessing the ability to come up with good and innovative vocal melodies for whatever instrumental music comes out of our writing periods and constantly impresses me in this respect. Nice distinctive vocals.

Jez (Electric/Acoustic Guitar)

Email/Photo

Name: Jez Smith.
Birthday: 28th October 1984.
Occupation: Student.
Favourite bands: The Beatles, The Stone Roses, Muse, Oasis, Supergrass, The Jam, Smashing Pumpkins.
Musical/personal influences: George Harrison [The Beatles], Jools Holland, Paul Weller [The Jam].
What the band means to you: Being able to play music that I like with more than just me and my guitar.
Favourite Noctula song: It changes each week as with all my favourite songs.
Non-musical interests: Art and photography, fiddling with anything electronic, badminton.
Dislikes: Fanaticism and a lack of open-mindedness, and any form of vinegar (except in mayo).
Bad habits: Sporadic laziness.
Something good about Gaz: He can write awesome lyrics in about half the time it takes anyone else.
Something good about Jon: Made an excellent transition from manager/mascot to bassist.
